Leech Lake remains one of the top walleye fisheries in North America. All year classes are present with good numbers with an abundance of fish in the mid-20″ range. With the loosening of the slot limit, more fish will be kept for the frying pan. In the spring expect a jig and a minnow bite in the weeds, sand, and wind blown rocks. Early summer we’ll move to Lindy rigs tipped with leeches and crawlers. As the summer warms up, it will be a mixed pattern of Lindy rigs, spinners, and trolling. As we move back into fall, we will once again go back to a jig and a minnow.
Leech Lake Musky population is as high as ever with a record number of fish coming in in the 50”+ class and Leech Lake is a top destination for jumbo perch. As always, casting for bass and northerns makes for a fun day on the water.
